Talking therapy- Counselling
Counselling offers a safe environment for you to explore your life and talk through any worries or anxieties you may have. Six hourly sessions are offered initially and can be extended if required. The counselling sessions are free.
Talking therapy – Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
CBT is a talking therapy that can help you manage your problems by changing the way you think and behave. It looks at how we think about a situation and how this affects the way we act. Our service offers short-term therapy for mild to moderate mental health issues.
Wellbeing Walks Exercise has been associated with reduced anxiety, decreased depression and enhanced mood. Walking is a good way to start exercising and also offers opportunities for relaxation and social contact. CHANGES walking groups take place in Musselburgh, Haddington, Prestonpans and Dunbar. The walks support people to improve their mental wellbeing through exercise and being part of a group.
Trained volunteers are also available to offer walking support to people on a one to one basis. For information about walking or to join a walking group Email: firstname.lastname@example.org or telephone Heather on 0131 653 1080.
East Lothian – Feel Good Walks

Singing for fun
We run sessions “singing for fun”. Singing has a range of mental, social and physical benefits. When you sing your body produces feel-good hormones called endorphins and the deep breathing required when singing reduces anxiety and helps you to relax.
Healthy Living Programme
Our healthy living project programme includes a wide range of groups and classes. These include: Gentle Exercise Classes, Exercise to Music Classes, Cycling, Tai Chi and Eat Well Keep Active.
Our team of trained volunteers who help run the groups and courses can also offer one to one support, before, during or after a course. The volunteers do have an understanding of what you are experiencing and can help you make the most of what CHANGES has to offer.
As a local charity we depend on local people to become involved. We can provide volunteers with free training and send you details of the many ways you can help.
An Information LIBRARY
We respond to enquiries from local people and professionals about sources of support for people experiencing: stress, depression, panic attacks, phobias and anxiety. To support these you can borrow books, DVDs and relaxation tapes.
Please feel free to telephone if you’re looking for information, or to arrange a time to visit and have a look at the library yourself.
